Iqembu labelukeli: The chatty bunch

Conversation Zimbabwe is coordinated by a team of like and unlike-minded people with one shared vision: Moving Zimbabwe forward, someway, somehow.

The conversationalists: our core contributors

Ottilia A. Maunganidze

A researcher, lawyer and strategist who considers herself a cynical pragmatic idealist (whatever that means!). Ottilia is a Zimbabwean third culture kid with a penchant for cheese, coffee and long chats about anything and everything. She also writes on Law | Life | Leanings.

For her pedantic sins, she edits contributions to the Conversation Zimbabwe blog with the zeal of a voracious kid who prefers words to swords.

Eleph Gula-Ndebele

Outspoken lawyer. Dubs himself a failed Zimbabwean kool kid and constantly aspires to be a human amongst human beings. He is known for scoring, a lot (on the football pitch only, he says!). He is occasionally right, but rarely wrong. A dreamer and visionary, he longs for a Zimbabwe of literal milk and honey.

Pride Jani

Screenshot 2014-10-23 22.51.46

The resident level-headed lawyer, football enthusiast and all round Mr Nice Guy. Pride is a proud (don’t laugh) Rhodent, Villager and recovering coffee addict who now puts Cape Town hippies to shame with his tea prowess. His motto: “The Prophet made me do it.”

Regular chatters

 Arthur Chatora

The resident journo and placard-holder with a deep love for football and the Sunshine City. Arthur has a keen interest in media and civic engagement in Zimbabwe (from Arcturus to Zaka) and elsewhere.

Doreen “Ray” Gaura

AA045449

A self styled uneducated intellectual in a constant black philosophical existential crisis, Ray identifies herself as a healer, storyteller and warrior who totally geeks out on all things artsy and all things academic. She believes that red wine should be made the 6th main food group. She “sees dead people” & when she’s not hanging out with the ancestors, the m’salad sangoma can be found championing human rights.

Kudzai Mudekunye

Screenshot 2014-10-23 23.04.15

A lyricist and poet, Kudzai brings a certain flair to the team. He is a philosopher and free-thinker who infuses ubuntu into everything and will willingly share the last dregs of his beer with you.

Memory Dube

Screen Shot 2015-02-03 at 5.32.11 PM

A Zimbabwean native, now living abroad, Memory is a legal researcher with much to say: from socio-economic development, to tasty wines, interesting people and global economic governance.

Shau Mudekunye

Screenshot 2014-10-23 23.09.54

A happy-go-lucky free spirit who dabbles in television production, talent management (call her, she might make you a star) and fashion design. To deceive people from the fact that she lives for fun and likes things, she works hard during the day, invokes her ChiHera character and takes long power naps. She is a firm believer in the power of positive thinking and salad. She writes what she likes.
